Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup dill pickle slices
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cornmeal
  • 1 cup buttermilk (or substitute with regular milk mixed with 1 tsp lemon juice)
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
  • Vegetable oil for frying (enough for about 2 inches in the pan)

Instructions

  1. Drain pickle slices on paper towels to remove excess moisture.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, cornmeal, paprika, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, and salt.
  3. Dip each pickle slice into buttermilk, then coat thoroughly in the flour mixture.
  4. Heat oil in a deep skillet to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Fry coated pickles in batches until golden brown (about 3-4 minutes per side). Drain on paper towels before serving.
