Method

Preparation
  1. Boil Water: Fill a large pot with water and add 1 tablespoon of salt. Bring it to a rolling boil and cook the spaghetti or linguine according to the package instructions, usually around 8-10 minutes, until al dente.
  2. Heat Oil: In a large skillet, warm 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Once hot, add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1-2 minutes, until fragrant and lightly golden.
  3. Cook Shrimp: Add the 1 pound of fresh shrimp to the skillet. Cook them for 3-5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they turn pink and opaque.
  4. Create the Sauce: Stir in 1 tablespoon of lemon zest and 1 cup of heavy cream. Allow this mixture to simmer gently for about 4-5 minutes, letting it thicken.
  5. Combine Pasta: Drain the pasta and add it directly to the skillet, tossing it gently in the creamy sauce.
  6. Garnish & Serve: Sprinkle 1/4 cup of chopped fresh parsley and 1 teaspoon of red pepper flakes (if using) over the dish. Serve hot.
