  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder

  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring
For the Cream Cheese Frosting
  • 8 ounces cream cheese softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Method
 

Directions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking dish with parchment paper.
  2. Whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt in a bowl.
  3. Cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until fluffy.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract and red food coloring.
  5. Combine the dry ingredients gradually into the wet mixture.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared dish and bake for about 25 minutes.
  7. Cool completely in the baking dish before frosting.
  8. For the cream cheese frosting, mix together cream cheese, powdered sugar, butter, and vanilla until smooth.
