How to Make Turkey Taco Skillet with Rice
- Begin by preparing the rice according to the package instructions; this usually takes about 15 minutes. Once done, set it aside to let it steam and fluff up.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, heat a splash of olive oil. Add the finely chopped onion and chopped bell peppers. Sauté them until softened, which should take about 5 minutes.
- Introduce the ground turkey to the skillet. Cook until it’s nicely browned and crumbly, which should take around 7 minutes.
- Stir in the taco seasoning, diced tomatoes (including their juices), and rinsed black beans. Allow the mixture to simmer for 5 minutes.
- Gently fold in the cooked rice until everything is well-combined and heated through, about 3-5 minutes.
- Take the skillet off the heat and sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the top. Cover briefly until the cheese has melted.
- Garnish with chopped cilantro before serving.

Notes
Serve with a squeeze of lime for an extra zesty kick. Ensure you don’t overcrowd the skillet while browning the turkey and sauté the veggies until tender to maintain crunch.
